Crispian Olver
Crispian Olver is the project leader and will provide specialist input into the formulation of the strategy in the areas of legal, institutional, planning, performance reporting, regulatory and compliance issues. Crispian is a project developer and consultant, focusing on issues around sustainable development, waste management, urban infrastructure and institutional capacity building. He served as Director-General of the Department of Environmental Affairs and Tourism from 1999 to 2005. In this role, he has coordinated the South African government’s preparations for the World Summit on Sustainable Development, oversaw the reform of environmental legislation in South Africa, and gave a lot of impetus to transformation and growth in the fishing, tourism and conservation sectors.
