Phase 3: Strategy Formulation 7 September 2009 – 27 November 2009

The outcome of phase 3 is the first draft strategy, and the consultation in relation to the outcome forms the basis of phase 4. As a consequence, no stakeholder meeting is envisaged at this stage, although consultation with stakeholders and consideration of public comment on the synthesis will be integral to the process of drawing up the first draft strategy.

Feedback and input from stakeholders will happen on the basis of structured meetings and through the web-site discussion forums established in phase II. In particular, the presentation of an Options Analysis paper will form the basis of consultations with key government departments.

The consultation timeline for phase 3 is as follows:

• September 7, 2009 – Synthesis paper published for public comment on the web-site
• September 25, 2009 – Deadline for public comments
• October 2, 2009 – Options Analysis Paper submitted to DEAT, consultation with government departments and key stakeholder on options starts
• October 23, 2009 – Deadline for feedback on Options Analysis
• November 27, 2009 – Draft waste management strategy submitted to DEAT
